MUSCAT: Ambassadors of the six countries which are part of the Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) came together on Friday morning for a cause to create awareness on healthy lifestyle and celebrate unity under the auspices of Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Saif al Hosni, Head of Asia and Pacific Department at the Foreign Ministry.

Indonesia was the host this year and members and their families embarked on a nearly three kilometres’ walk starting from the Foreign Ministry till the Indonesian embassy in Shatti Al Qurum.

“This walk marks an important milestone as this is an attempt to gain positive impact of deepening the relations among the member countries and from a fitness perspective, this reiterates the need of following a healthy lifestyle as a tool to keep ailments away,” said Abdulaziz.



Brunei Darussalam, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam are the Asean member countries and those who have embassies in the country were the participants in the walk that saw a colourful culmination at the residence of the ambassador of Indonesia to the Sultanate of Oman.

Organised by the Asean Committee for the second time, scores of people, Home-Based Staff (HBS) and family from all six Asean diplomatic missions in Muscat. The event, which was held at the Residence of the ambassador of Indonesia to the Sultanate of Oman, has provided the opportunity for the Asean diplomatic missions to celebrate and strengthen the spirit and camaraderie of Asean.
