NOUAKCHOTT: In a significant step toward fostering cultural and religious cooperation, Oman and Mauritania signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration in endowments and religious affairs.

The agreement was signed by Dr Mohammed bin Said al Maamari, Oman’s Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, and Dr Sidi Yahya Ould Sheikhna Ould Lemrabet, Mauritania’s Minister of Islamic Affairs.

The MoU focuses on the exchange of expertise in managing endowments, developing educational programmes, and adopting modern trends to bolster the effectiveness of religious sectors.

Both nations emphasised their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and creating avenues for shared progress. Dr Al Maamari praised the deep-rooted ties between the two countries, expressing optimism about the MoU’s role in fostering mutual growth and understanding. — ONA
