Oman Golf all set for junior GCC Golf championship

MUSCAT: Oman Golf Association (OGA) is all set to kick off the action in the third edition of GCC Gulf Cadet (Under 13), the eighth edition of the Juniors (Under 16), seventh edition of girls (above 16) and first edition of the girls (Under 16) at Ghala Golf Club on Saturday. The opening ceremony of the event will be held under auspices of HH Sayyid Azzan bin Qais al Said, Chairman of the Oman Golf Association (OGA), in presence of dignitaries and officials.
The four days of golf event which will conclude on Tuesday will feature participation of five teams including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and the hosts Sultanate of Oman. All the teams arrived to Muscat to commence their competitions in the various categories.
The OGA has finalised all technical and logistical arrangements for the championship, setting the stage for an intense competition among the participating nations. The tournament serves as a developmental platform for young golfers to enhance their skills, gain valuable experience and prepare for future regional and international competitions.
A technical meeting will take place on Saturday morning to finalise team line-ups ahead of the evening’s opening ceremony. The participating teams will have access to practise sessions at Ghala Golf Club, allowing them to familiarise themselves with the course before the competitions commence on Sunday.
Oman golfers will eye to deliver stellar performances, secure podium finishes and raise the Sultanate of Oman’s flag high during the championship. Oman’s previous successful hosting of various editions of the Gulf Golf Championships reflects its strong presence in the sport. The tournament promises to showcase exceptional talent and sportsmanship, further strengthening Gulf collaboration and fostering the development of golf in the region.
