Have you ever stumbled upon the term ‘Tin Box Traveller’? It might sound like a quirky name for a treasure chest of adventures - and in many ways, it is. But it’s more than just a blog; it’s the starting point of Claire Hall’s journey into wanderlust, which has now found its true home in the captivating landscapes of Oman.

After years of exploring European and UK destinations, Claire’s move to Oman in 2022, prompted by her husband’s job offer, marked a significant shift in her travel narrative. It wasn’t just a relocation - it was an immersion into a vibrant new world, rich with cultural depth and geographical wonders.

Oman Wanderlust, Claire’s dedicated blog about Oman, is a natural extension of her passion for travel, which began with her original blog, Tin Box Traveller, launched in 2012. What started as a family-focused travel blog, documenting caravan holidays soon expanded to encompass various travel experiences across Europe and beyond.

When Claire and her family arrived in Oman, she initially planned to incorporate her Omani adventures into Tin Box Traveller. However, she quickly realised that the country’s rich landscapes and unique experiences deserved a dedicated platform. Thus, Oman Wanderlust was born in 2024, offering firsthand insights tailored for UK, European and US visitors.

“Oman is still a ‘road less travelled,’ which makes it unique for me as a content creator,” Claire explains. “Many of the other places I’ve visited are well-known to my audience, but Oman has the privilege of being a fresh discovery. It’s a place I can truly introduce to my readers.”

In her exploration of Oman, Claire aims to highlight not only the country’s incredible natural beauty but also its authentic culture. Through her content, she showcases the balance between tradition and modernity that makes Oman stand out in the Middle East. Her blog offers a range of recommendations for first-time visitors looking to experience the essence of Oman.

The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is a must-visit, according to Claire. “It’s not a hidden gem, but its grandeur and peaceful ambiance are unparalleled,” she says. Another of her top picks is Misfat Al Abriyeen, a charming village in the mountains that strikes a perfect balance between traditional Omani life and modern accessibility, making it an ideal destination.

Claire also highly recommends Rimal Al Sharqiya, a desert destination where visitors can witness stunning sunrises, sunsets and starry nights over the dunes, complemented by warm hospitality at authentic Bedouin camps. She sees an opportunity to spark her audience’s curiosity by showcasing Oman’s unique landscapes. “The more I share, the more people become curious,” she says. “It’s about revealing unexpected sights — mountains, wadis and diverse outdoor adventures.”

For Claire, her most memorable experience in Oman was visiting Bar Al Hikman during the Hunter’s Moon, where she witnessed a comet streaking across the sky. “Oman’s natural beauty never ceases to amaze me,” she says, highlighting how the country continues to surprise her with unique moments.

“Oman offers an authentic Arabian experience with a diverse landscape that promises extraordinary outdoor adventures,” Claire concludes. “If you want to experience the true heart of Arabia, Oman should be at the top of your list.” Through her blog and social media channels, Claire Hall continues to be a passionate ambassador for Oman, bringing its hidden treasures to a global audience.
