EU chief Ursula von der Leyen on Friday hailed a new set of agreements between the European Union and Switzerland as a 'historic' step forward in ties. 'This is a joyful day. This agreement between the EU and Switzerland is historic. This marks the beginning of a long-lasting cooperation,' Von der Leyen told a press conference in Bern alongside Swiss President Viola Amherd, who described the deal as 'good and beneficial' to both sides.
