Red Warriors gear up to face Kuwait tomorrow

Oman football team held their first training in Kuwait on Thursday ahead of the 26th Gulf Cup Championship ‘Khaleeji Zain 26’, which will be held from December 21 to January 3.
The delegation is headed by Mohsin al Masroori, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Football Association, Mohammed al Yahmadi, Secretary-General of the Football Association, Qutaiba al Ghailani, member of the Competitions Committee, and the technical staff led by coach Rashid bin Jaber al Yafei and his assistant Yaqoub al Sabahi, Khaled al Rawas, the team manager along with 26 players.
The line up includes goalkeepers, Ibrahim al Mukhaini (Al Nahda), Faiz al Rushaidi (Sohar), and Ibrahim al Rajhi (Al Nasr).
Defenders: Ahmed al Khamisi, Mohammed al Musalami, Ali al Busaidy, Amjad al Harthy (Seeb), Thani al Rashidi, Ahmed al Kaabi, Khalid al Buraiki (Al Nahda), and Mulham al Sunaidy (Al Nasr).
Midfielders: Harib al Saadi, Abdullah Fawaz, Ahed al Mashaikhi, and Hussein al Shahari (Al Nahda), Arshad al Alawi, Jameel al Yahmadi, Zaher al Aghbari, and Moataz Saleh (Seeb), and Salah al Yahyaei (Al Khaldiya Bahrain).
Strikers: Abdulrahman al Mushaifri (Seeb), Essam al Subhi (Al Shabab), Al Faraj al Kiyumi (Al Khabourah), Abdulsalam al Shukaili (Bahla), and Al Munthir al Alawi (Oman Club).
Recently the team concluded its internal camp that began last December 11, with five training sessions that witnessed intensive training in the technical and physical aspects, and played a friendly match against Yemen on Monday.
During the opening match on Saturday against Kuwait, Oman will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their first appearance in the Arabian Gulf Cup football tournaments, which began in 1974.
The technical meeting for the tournament will be held on Friday, headed by Dr Hamed al Shaibani, Chairman of the Tournament Committee, and attended by Khalid al Rawas, Director of the Oman national team, to explain the aspects of the tournament.
Jaber International Stadium, with a capacity of 60,000 spectators, is scheduled to host the opening match, as well as the final match that is scheduled for January 3, 2025.
Platform 51 was launched to cover field events, in addition to 5 broadcast studios, Jaber Al Mubarak Stadium, another in Jaber Al Ahmad Stadium, and two in Al Shaheed Park, and in the Murooj Complex.
Abdulrahman al Mutairi, Kuwait’s Minister of Information and Culture and Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee for the Gulf Zain 26 Championship, officially inaugurated the tournament’s primary media centre on Thursday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Farwaniya.
The facility is equipped with high-performance computers, high-speed internet, and designated areas for photography and media interviews. These features aim to facilitate the work of journalists covering the Gulf Football Championship. Additionally, the centre includes a dedicated “Diwaniya” for media personnel, equipped with a large TV screen for live event coverage and a strong Wi-Fi network. Shuttle buses are also provided to transport journalists between the media centre and the tournament venues.
