Oman Club Crowned Handball Super Cup

MUSCAT, DEC 19

Oman Club was crowned the Handball Super Cup champion after a well-deserved victory over Ahli Sidab with a score of 23-14 in an intense match that witnessed fierce competition. The match took place at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, under the auspices of Shaikh Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The match started with great enthusiasm, as both teams exchanged quick attacks in the opening minutes. However, strong defences and outstanding goalkeeping prevented early scoring. Oman Club managed to open the scoring in the fourth minute with a counterattack led by Mahmoud al Wahaibi, but Ahli Sidab quickly responded with two consecutive goals from Azan al Maashari, who displayed impressive offensive skills.

As time passed, Oman Club regained control of the game, equalising through a penalty successfully executed by Taher al Hadidi. The team continued to deliver an organised offensive performance, taking advantage of the speed of their players and the accuracy of their shots, adding more goals through Mohamed Ehab and Abdul Hakim al Siyabi.

The first half was characterised by intense offensive efforts from both sides, with remarkable performances from the goalkeepers, particularly Oman Club's goalkeeper, who prevented Ahli Sidab from making a comeback on several occasions. The first half ended with Oman Club leading 10-7, giving them a significant morale boost.

At the start of the second half, Ahli Sidab showed a clear desire to get back into the game, with Said al Hakamani scoring an early goal to narrow the gap. However, Oman Club maintained control of the match thanks to an outstanding offensive performance led by Mohamed Ehab, who scored one goal after another with support from his teammates.

Ahli Sidab attempted a comeback through their players Azan al Maashari and Mohannad al Zarafi, but Oman Club's solid defence and exceptional goalkeeper thwarted their efforts. This half was also marked by a faster pace of play and numerous offensive exchanges, creating plenty of chances for both teams. However, Oman Club capitalised on their opportunities, finishing the match with a significant margin at 23-14.

After the match, Shaikh Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, accompanied by Musa al Balushi, Chairman of the Oman Handball Association, presented the trophy and gold medals to the winners.
