MUSCAT: The Governance Committee for Operations and Local Value Addition in the Public Services Sector, chaired by Dr Mansoor bin Talib al Hinai, Chairman of the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR), has announced the opening of 479 new job opportunities through the “Tawteen” digital platform, in collaboration with Nama Water Services Company.
This announcement aligns with the recommendations of the “Role of Economic Sectors in Localizing Job Opportunities and Enhancing Local Value Addition” forum, currently underway and continuing until December 12, 2024. The initiative aims to support national efforts to train and employ Omani human resources and boost local value addition.
The advertised positions cover various fields within the water sector, addressing local market needs and keeping pace with the economic developments in Oman. This announcement represents a pivotal step in strengthening the contribution of governance committees to achieving Oman Vision 2040. The vision aims to build a sustainable economy rooted in innovation and active partnerships between all stakeholders while creating sustainable job opportunities for the national workforce.
The committee has invited job seekers to apply for these positions through the Tawteen digital platform. It also announced plans to unveil a wider range of job opportunities in the coming period across various regulated companies in the sector, along with employment-linked training opportunities.
The committee highlighted its ongoing collaboration with partners to increase Omanization rates in the electricity, water, and wastewater sectors. In 2023, Omanis constituted 79% of the workforce in these sectors. This initiative reflects a steadfast commitment to empowering Omani talent and fostering an enabling work environment that supports Oman’s developmental goals.
It is worth noting that the “Role of Economic Sectors in Localizing Job Opportunities and Enhancing Local Value Addition” forum, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and the National Employment Programme, with wide participation from public and private entities, aims to achieve several objectives.
These include fostering strategic partnerships across sectors, promoting local value addition, localizing jobs in the Omani market, providing sustainable job opportunities for Omani talent, and encouraging integration between the public and private sectors to achieve sustainable economic development.
