Expatriates and citizens of the Sultanate of Oman united recently for a vibrant family gathering celebrating Oman's spirit of inclusivity, warmth, and its journey towards progress in Wilayat Muttrah.

The lively event, organised by the Dawoodi Bohra community in honour of their Omani friends and neighbours in Darsait, took place at the Sahil Oman Football ground. It attracted a diverse crowd, including distinguished members of the Omani community, such as Shaikhs and other prominent figures.

Approximately 1,000 attendees, including children accompanied by their mothers, grandparents, and elders, enjoyed the pleasant evening on the open football pitch. Esteemed Omani nationals, including Hussain Al Lawati, a member of the Majlis Al Shura, and Shaikh Hashil bin Khalfan Al Hasani, Shaikh of the Darsait area, expressed their appreciation for the community's efforts in bringing local residents together on such an occasion. This was the first time a gathering of this nature had been organised in the neighbourhood.

Hussain Al Lawati commended the meticulous planning and thoughtful execution of the event, stating, “Oman is a peaceful country, and Omanis are renowned for their hospitality and welcoming nature towards all who come to this glorious nation.”

He engaged with community members, offering encouraging words and wishing them success in organising similar events in the future.

'We believe in cultivating an inclusive society and fostering brotherly relations with everyone,” remarked Shaikha Khuzaima Yamani from the Dawoodi Bohra community.

The various games created an atmosphere of excitement, with winners receiving gifts as rewards. The raffle draw, with over 20 prizes on offer, generated a buzz of anticipation among the attendees.

Additionally, the event included henna and face painting stalls that drew many visitors, alongside booths where local Omani women showcased their handicrafts and culinary skills. Participants left the carnival with high spirits, expressing a desire for the Dawoodi Bohra community to host similar events in the future.
