Federation of GCC Chambers reviews private sector customs benefits

ONA – The Board of Directors of the Federation of GCC Chambers held its 65th meeting today at the Dead Sea in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The meeting was chaired by Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Federation’s Board of Directors and Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the attendance of members of the Boards of Directors of the Chambers of Commerce from GCC countries and officials from the Customs Union Authority.
During the meeting, the Federation’s Board reviewed a presentation by the Customs Union Authority, which outlined the journey of the GCC Customs Union, key challenges, the Authority’s strategy, and the private sector's benefits from the Union. This includes customs tariffs, the GCC Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program, facilitating the free movement of goods, and eliminating the duplication of customs procedures at border crossings.
The meeting also discussed a study on increasing quotas from member unions and chambers, followed up on decisions from the 64th meeting of the Federation’s Board of Directors, and reviewed the recommendations from the 58th meeting of the Executive Leadership Committee of the Federation.
Additionally, the meeting reviewed the Federation's projected annual budget for 2025 and the outcomes of the 12th roundtable meeting with their Excellencies and Ministers of Trade and Industry of the GCC countries.
The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry delegation at the meeting was led by Rashid bin Amer Al Musharhi, the First Vice-Chairman of the Board, and included several members of the Council, chamber officials, and Omani businessmen.
