SUHAR: In a remarkable effort to promote environmental sustainability and showcase Oman's biodiversity, the Environment Authority of Al Batinah North recently included a pioneering programme as an environmental social initiative titled 'Wings Through the Lens' in Suhar.

This unique initiative, which brought together 40 participants and produced stunning works of wildlife photography, blends education with a call to action for the preservation of Oman's natural heritage.

The founder of the initiative, Iman Ali al Hosni, highlighted the initiative's profound objectives, saying, 'This initiative is not just a training programme; it's an environmental message with far-reaching goals. We aim to revive awareness of Oman's ecological beauty, nurture national talent, and instil the value of sustainability. By uniting efforts between the authority and the community, we are building a future that respects and protects our environment. More importantly, we hope to inspire future generations to take the lead in environmental preservation.'

The programme's core goals reflect its ambitious vision, which are Reviving Awareness of Environmental Beauty, Nurturing National Talent, Instilling Sustainability, Fostering Community Partnerships, and Inspiring Future Leaders.

The programme unfolded in two phases. The first, academic theoretical, included workshops on wildlife photography techniques, camera handling, and understanding the behaviour of local and migratory birds. The second, practical, involved fieldwork using professional cameras, smartphones, and trap cameras, enabling participants to bring their newfound skills to life.

As a result, the initiative not only enhanced environmental awareness but also produced a collection of many unique artistic works showcasing the avian wonders of Al Batinah North and adding treasures to Environment authorities there. These works symbolise the participants' dedication to capturing the essence of Oman's natural beauty and advocating for its preservation.

'Through this initiative, we are creating a generation of environmental storytellers, individuals who can inspire through their lenses and contribute to the sustainability of our nation's precious biodiversity,' Al Hosni said.

With 'Wings Through the Lens,' Oman is witnessing a powerful fusion of art, education, and environmental responsibility, an inspiring example of how communities can unite to preserve and celebrate the natural world.
