MUSCAT: Seeb club successfully claimed the top spot in the Oman League after defeating Oman Club 2-0 on Saturday. This match, postponed from the ninth round, was held at Seeb Sports Stadium.

The match began relatively calmly, with both teams exchanging possession in midfield, and play remained concentrated in the area during the first few minutes. The first offensive attempt for Seeb came from Abdulaziz al Muqbali, who tried to take a powerful shot towards Oman club's goal, but the opponent's defence successfully cleared it without causing any danger.

Seeb continued to dominate the match, with players making continuous runs in an attempt to break through Oman club's defence, while Oman club's attempts were limited, and they failed to threaten Seeb's goalkeeper.



In the 40th minute, the first goal of the match came when Mohammed a Musallami rose to meet a high cross and headed it into Oman club's net, giving Seeb the lead.

After this goal, Oman club's players tried to regroup and search for an equaliser, but Seeb took advantage of defensive gaps with quick counterattacks.

In added time of the first half, Seeb were awarded a penalty kick after a strong challenge by Oman club's defender on Seeb's player Jameel al Yahmadi, resulting in a red card for Majid al Balushi of Oman club due to his violent intervention.

Abdulaziz al Muqbali successfully converted the penalty, scoring Seeb's second goal, further extending their lead as the first half ended.



In the second half, Seeb continued their offensive pressure, nearly scoring a third goal through a powerful shot from Omar al Malki that went past the goalkeeper but was not followed up and went out of play. Oman club made their first substitution to reorganise their lineup and attempted to reduce the deficit.

There was an attempt when a ball passed in front of Seeb's goal but was successfully cleared by the defence.

On the other hand, Seeb relied on counterattacks, and despite Oman club's attempts to get back into the game, Seeb's defence remained solid, and Oman club were unable to reduce the gap. The match ended with a well-deserved 2-0 victory for Seeb, bringing their points tally to 27, putting them at the top of the Oman League, one point ahead of Al Nahda, despite having played one match less.

Meanwhile, Oman club's points remained at 21, placing them third in the overall standings.
