Team Deccan beat Deccan XI to emerge DPL Season 7 champions

MUSCAT: The Indian Social Club’s Deccani Wing hosted the 7th Deccan Premier League (DPL) in Al Amerat, Oman, bringing together 12 teams in a competitive league format. The matches were held at the Haya Ground, with the semi-finals and final staged at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground.
In the semi-finals, Deccan XI defeated Deccan Stars, while Team Deccan overcame Deccan Challengers in an unexpected victory. The final saw Team Deccan, a youthful squad, set a target of 94 runs. Deccan XI, despite their experience, fell short, scoring 74 runs and handing Team Deccan the championship title.
Individual achievements were celebrated, with Junaid Iqbal named Best Batsman and Ahmed Khan honoured as both Best Bowler and Player of the Tournament for his all-round performance.
The event, sponsored by Wujha Development and others, also featured spot prizes, games for children, and food stalls offering authentic Deccani cuisine. Families and cricket enthusiasts united in a festive atmosphere, showcasing the spirit of the Deccani community.
The organising team, led by Mohmed Zaheer Al Deen, Syed Naimath, Mirza, and others, ensured the event’s success. Chief guest Syed Anwar Ahsan from the Oman Cricket Academy commended the Deccani Wing for fostering sports and unity.
The success of the event was a result of meticulous planning and seamless execution by a dedicated team, including Mohmed Zaheer Al Deen, Syed Naimath, Mirza, Zaki Ahmed, Fasiuddin, Mohmad Ali, Imran, scorer Mastan, and Kabeer. Mansoor Sabri, Co-Convenor of the Deccani Wing, extended a warm welcome to the audience and praised the teams’ sportsmanship and enthusiasm.
The tournament concluded with a promise of an even bigger event next year, reaffirming its place as a cornerstone of community celebration.
