Blossoming creativity: A spectacular flower fashion showcase

The Indian Social Club’s premises came alive on November 8, hosting the Flower Fashion Show, an enchanting celebration of floral artistry. The event was headlined by Devyani Sampat, a renowned floral artist and Ikebana expert, whose meticulously crafted designs left the audience in awe.
With over 20 years of expertise in floral art and a passion for pushing creative boundaries, Devyani presented her finest work, a culmination of six months of dedicated effort.
The show featured 13 stunning models, each sashaying down the ramp in dazzling ensembles crafted with flowers, feathers, crystals, and other unique materials.
One standout piece incorporated braided grass called ‘Cat Tail’, grown locally in Muscat, while another used glue sticks creatively transformed into intricate designs. Devyani’s ingenuity in blending natural elements with innovative techniques was a testament to her artistry as she creates innovative always in her floral arrangements.
Adding to the evening’s charm, Seema Chaudhery, an accomplished choreographer and dance director, curated the ramp walks and orchestrated two energetic dance performances by her troupe. These captivating interludes brought a touch of grandeur to the event, seamlessly complementing the theme of floral elegance.
Devyani’s contributions to the floral arts extend beyond this event. She is a member of prestigious organisations like WAFA (World Flower Association), NAFA (National Flower Association) Europe, WFC (World Flower Council), and Ikebana International in Japan and conducts demonstrations worldwide. Her inspiration for floral fashion stems from global experiences, having participated in flower shows in Vietnam, Korea, Hong Kong, and Hyderabad. These experiences have shaped her vision, driving her desire to bring this unique art form to Oman’s multicultural audience.
Devyani had the privilege of honing her craft under the guidance of renowned masters from around the world. Her mentors included the late Leela Rajkumar from India, Phubast Chesdmethee from Thailand, Lesley from the UK, Mary Fransko from France, and Madhu Shah from Australia.
The Flower Fashion Show also served as a platform to showcase the Indian Social Club’s commitment to fostering cultural enrichment. With support from the Al Hosni Group International as the title sponsor, the event was flawlessly executed, from the flower-adorned stage to the meticulously coordinated high tea that followed.
The audience was left spellbound, with many complimenting the models, designers, and organisers for the spectacular evening. The models, including notable names like Sonal Shah, Hansika Gagnani, Rashna Saher, Sunila Kawatra, Kala Rao, Dr Parul, Ragini Vaishnav, Priya Shivakumar, Mausam Mistry, Pushpa Negi, Veena Naveen, Vatsala Mishra, and Manjeet Kaur Parmar, embodied grace and poise as they walked the ramp in Devyani’s creations.
The night was anchored by Garima Bhandari, a seasoned radio professional and Programme Director of TFM. Known for her engaging personality and illustrious career interviewing Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, Garima brought her signature charisma to the event. Her lively commentary and interactions with the audience added a vibrant energy that kept spirits high throughout the evening.
As the event concluded, the ISC Ladies Coordinator expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chairman Babu Rajendran, the Management Committee, and staff for their unwavering support.
