MUSCAT: The Health Ministry’s National Organ Transplant Programme set a new medical milestone by transferring two kidneys from brain-dead donors (based in Royal Hospital) to the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital at the University Medical City.
Dr Qassim bin Mohammed al Jahdhami, Head of the Organ Donation Department at the National Organ Transplant Programme, said that the first such transplant operation was carried out on October 22, 2024, followed by the second transplant operation on November 5, 2024.
He added that the first kidney transplant was performed at the Royal Hospital, while the second kidney transplant took place at the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital.
