Oman advances 4 places in Network Readiness Index

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has advanced four places in the Network Readiness Index 2024; achieving the 50th position globally compared to the 54th position in 2023.
The index measures the extent to which countries benefit from the opportunities provided by communications and information technology to enhance their level of competitiveness globally.
The index consists of four main axes - technology, society, influence, and governance.
It is ranked one globally for population coverage of mobile internet networks, ninth for encouraging the government to invest in emerging technologies, 10th for the use of virtual social networks, 11th for the gender gap in internet use, 27th for sustainable cities and communities, 23rd for ICT Skills in the education system and 28th for cyber security.
The index measures the extent to which 133 countries around the world are taking advantage of the opportunities offered by communications and information technology to enhance their level of global competitiveness.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority published the results of the Sultanate of Oman in the Network Readiness Index through its digital platforms, which also includes sub-indicators; the most prominent of which is the population coverage by mobile internet' index, in which the Sultanate of Oman topped the world, the 'government encouragement to invest in emerging technologies index, in which the Sultanate obtained the ninth position globally, the use of virtual social networks index, in which the Sultanate obtained the tenth position globally, and the gender gap in internet use index, in which the Sultanate obtained the 11th position globally.
