Major development projects underway in Muscat

Muscat: Several development projects are being implemented in the Muscat Governorate, including the Sultan Haitham City, an integrated smart city spread over 14 million sqm
Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, said that the governorate is focusing on empowering youth and enhancing their participation in development under the vision of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
Bausher sands
A tender has been issued for the implementation of the detailed plan for the development project of the Bausher Sands area in the Wilayat of Bausher, which will be implemented in stages spread over 362,000 square meters, and will include an area designated for four-wheel drive bikes, a special building for renting and maintaining bikes, various recreational and family areas, and multi-story parking.
Work is underway on the detailed plan for the Ain Ghala development project, also for the Qurm development project (beach and reserve), and the preparation of detailed maps for the marine street.
Quriyat Waterfront Development Project: The initial design has been completed and will include a walkway, bicycle paths, facilities for visitors, and green spaces. An area has also been allocated for restaurants, cafes, and shaded seating areas. Work is underway to prepare the detailed designs.
Qurum Commercial District
The governorate assigned consulting services for the master plan for the development of the Qurum Commercial District in September, preparing studies and designs for the project, and assigning consulting services for the development of the Al-Mahj Commercial District in the Wilayat of Al-Amerat. Studies are currently being prepared and a tender has been issued to implement the Ruwi Commercial District Development Project.
Muscat Expressway
Notable projects also include the tender for expanding Muscat Expressway to include six lanes in each direction, apart from the improvement of bridges and intersections to enhance the flow of traffic. There is a project to convert the service road in Al Khuwair into a one-way road to improve traffic and the Al Ansab-Al Jifnain road dualization project with a length of up to 15 kilometers, which includes the construction of a road with three lanes in each direction with bridges and intersections and the conversion of existing roundabouts into bridges and tunnels, with the establishment of the necessary protections, systems and channels to drain surface water.
November 18 road
A tender has been issued to implement the project to construct intersections on 18 November Street for the Al Mouj project. The municipal sector is also implementing projects for rainwater drainage channels, such as the surface water drainage channel project next to Al Anwar Street in Azaiba, the project to construct a water drainage channel in the Al Jifnain area in the Wilayat of Seeb, and the second phase of the rainwater drainage project in the Al Mahj area in the Wilayat of Al Amerat.
Port Sultan Qaboos
Coordination is underway to implement projects that include the development of residential neighborhoods, including the Muttrah Development Project and the Port Sultan Qaboos Port, which will contribute to building an integrated and sustainable urban environment.
The governor of Muscat said that the economic growth strategy supports the role of the private sector as a major partner in the development and takes into account the distribution of projects based on population density and the competitive advantages of each wilayats while directing resources towards improving infrastructure and services in areas with high population density, and developing tourism projects in areas with promising potential to attract more tourists.
