Embassies mark 54th National Day with pomp

 
MUSCAT: Embassies of Oman around the world celebrated 54th National Day by hosting various events on Thursday. Sayyid Faisal bin Harib al Busaidy, Ambassador of Oman to Bahrain, held a ceremony on the occasion of the 54th Glorious National Day, under the auspices of Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain.

The Embassy of Oman to the United States of America held a reception on the occasion of the 54th Glorious National Day. The ceremony included a speech by Counsellor Sabra bint Ahmed al Hotiyah, Chargé d'Affaires, in which she touched on the renewed renaissance witnessed by the Sultanate of Oman under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.



She praised the historical and strategic relations between Oman and the US, and the embassy’s efforts to increase trade cooperation and benefit from the free trade agreement between the two friendly countries.

In her speech, she also addressed the necessity of a ceasefire in Gaza and ending the violence and injustice against the Palestinian people, stressing the importance of abiding by international resolutions and international humanitarian law, and the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.



Mira Resnick, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Gulf Affairs, delivered a speech in which she praised Oman's pioneering role in establishing security and stability in the Middle East. She also expressed her happiness with the growth of Omani-American relations, noting the doubling of the value of trade exchange, wishing the two countries continued progress and prosperity.

The Embassy of Oman in Singapore held a reception on the occasion of the 54th Glorious National Day, in the presence of Shireen bint Abdulwahab al Zadjaliyah, Acting Chargé d'Affaires.

Badr bin Mohammed al Mantheri, Ambassador of Oman to the UK, held a reception on the occasion of the 54th Glorious National Day in London.

The ceremony was attended by officials, members of the House of Lords and the House of Commons, senior diplomats, business people, academics and media professionals.

Mohammed bin Abdullah al Nahdi, Ambassador of Oman to Cyprus, held a reception on the occasion of the 54th National Day in Nicosia.



The ceremony was attended by George Papanastasiou, Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry of Cyprus, along with a number of government officials, businessmen and elite members of the Cypriot community, in addition to heads of accredited missions and members of the diplomatic corps.

Ambassador Al Nahdi said Oman has distinguished bilateral relations with Cyprus, and these relations have witnessed remarkable development. He highlighted bilateral efforts to enhance cooperation in economy, trade, tourism and higher education.

The Ambassador also stressed Oman's support for the United Nations resolutions on the Cyprus issue and the efforts made to resume negotiations to achieve the aspirations of the Cypriot people for a better future.

Papanastasiou congratulated Oman on the occasion of the 54th glorious National Day, praising the positions of His Majesty the Sultan on regional and international issues, and the embassy’s efforts in strengthening bilateral relations.

The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Madrid held a reception on the occasion of the 54th Glorious National Day, in the presence of the Chargé d'Affaires, Nayef bin Hilal al Shamsi.
