Oman proposal for unified sports day discussed

MUSCAT: Sayyidah Sanaa bint Hamad al Busaidiyah, Chairwoman of Oman Women's Sports and Gender Equality Committee, along with Vice-Chairwoman Sa’adah al Ismailiyah and committee member Manal al Kiyumi, participated in the third meeting of the GCC Women's Sports Advisory Committee. The meeting was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, under the chairmanship of Lulwa al Marri, Chairwoman of GCC Women's Sports Advisory Committee for the current term.
The meeting reviewed the resolutions of the Gulf Women's Sports Committee, which were approved during the 98th meeting of the Executive Office of GCC NOCs, held on May 28, 2024, in Qatar. A report on the hackathon event hosted by Oman from March 1–4, 2024, was also presented, alongside updates on the Gulf Women's Sports electronic platform.
The meeting included discussions on Oman's initiative to launch a unified sports day for GCC women starting next year. It also reviewed developments related to the regulations for honouring distinguished leaders and athletes in the sports field, in addition to presenting GCC Women's Sports Advisory Committee's action plan for the upcoming year.
