NIZWA: The Tender Board’s approval of Al Dakhiliyah Square, branded as 'Al Dakhiliyah Boulevard', marks a milestone in comprehensive development in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The project is set to redefine urban and economic landscapes in Nizwa, covering an area of 145,000 square metres.
This multifaceted project combines investment, tourism, culture, health and environmental initiatives, reflecting Oman’s focus on sustainable and inclusive growth. The development includes 10 diverse investment sites and 50 usufruct contracts across various sectors, with a two-year implementation timeline.
Al Dakhiliyah Boulevard is expected to attract over 944,000 visitors annually, generating 340 permanent and temporary jobs and engaging 60 productive families in its activities. “This project embodies our vision for sustainable development, offering an environment that meets the community’s diverse needs,” said Shaikh Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah.
Facilities will include open theatres, exhibition spaces, laser shows, and a 3,985-metre-long walkway surrounded by greenery. Dedicated cycling paths, water fountains and open areas covering 80,000 square metres are integral to its design. Visitors will also enjoy restaurants, kiosks, children’s play areas and a market supporting small businesses.
Aligned with national strategies, the project supports initiatives such as the Greater Nizwa Plan, the Healthy Patterns initiative by the Ministry of Health, and Oman’s tree-planting drive, which aims to plant 10 million trees. Furthermore, clean energy integration is ensured through a financing agreement with Petroleum Development Oman.
Investment returns are projected to reach RO 500,000 annually, with an estimated 5 per cent growth rate. The Boulevard also aims to become a cornerstone of tourism in the governorate, enhancing its appeal as a tourist destination.
