Election to the BoD of Indian schools in Oman on Jan 11

Elections to the Board of Directors of the Indian Schools in Oman will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 according to the Election Commission (EC) of the Board of Directors which held a press conference on Saturday.
Speaking to the media, the members of the election Commission of the BoD, which is governed by the Ministry of Education (MoE), said that the issuance of nomination forms for candidates would begin on November 17, 2024. The prospective candidates can start filing the nomination form on all working days between Sunday to Thursday from November 21, to December 7, till 1 pm.
The EC would complete the scrutiny of nominations latest by December 14. Candidates have the right to withdraw their nominations till 1 pm on December 26. The final list of candidates would be published on December 27. The brochure having the profile of candidates would be circulated among parents by the first week of January 2025. The same would be displayed in the EC Website too.
Speaking to Observer, Babu Rajendran, Election Commissioner detailed the preparations put in place by the EC to elect 5 members of the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman from among the parents of students of Indian School Muscat.
The Election Commission of the Board of Directors consists of Election Commissioner Babu Rajendran, and Commission Members Shakeel K M, Divesh Loomba, Mythili Ananth, Tapan Viz and Mariyam Cheriyan. The Election Commission will oversee the entire process of election under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, Sultanate of Oman.
“We are currently preparing the voters’ list and the first list of eligible voters will be displayed on the school notice board on November 16. We have also instituted a website www.indianschoolsbodelection.org through which the parents can not only get themselves updated about various activities of the EC but also can check their eligibility to vote using their parent ID,” he said, adding that parents are welcome to intimate to the designated email id of Election Commission electioncommissionbod@gmail.com, if any discrepancy in their record is found.
The Commission urged all parents to exercise their voting rights to ensure that the most preferred and most eligible candidates are elected to the BoD. The voting shall begin at 8 am and close at 5 pm, when the gates of the school will be closed. However, those voters who are inside the school premises for voting before 5 pm will be allowed to complete casting their votes.
The Election Commissioner also requested the parents to abide by the laws of the land while exercising their franchise. Canvassing in any form in and outside the school premises is strictly prohibited during the election day and there will be strict vigilance to ensure that there is no clogging around the area due to voter turnout.
The Election Commission also urged the candidate to treat other candidates with respect and dignity and any form of defamation or malign propaganda against opponent candidates as well as the existing system of governance of the Indian Schools Oman will be viewed seriously by the Election Commission.
