Omani researcher wins ALECSO Award for green economy innovation

Muscat: In a prestigious recognition of Omani contributions to sustainable development, Dr Huda bint Mubarak al Dayriya received the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO) Award for Creativity and Innovation for Young Researchers in the Arab World.
Al Dayriya was awarded for her pioneering study, ‘The Extent to Which Government School Principals and Their Teachers Practice Their Roles in Activating Green Economy Fields in Education, and Mechanisms for Enhancement in Light of Oman Vision 2040’.
Meanwhile, the ALECSO’s award recognises outstanding scientific research and innovation within the Arab region, aiming to support creativity, technological advancement, and the application of scientific knowledge across nations.
The initiative also seeks to inspire a culture of scientific research and innovation among Arab youth.
Her study revolved around how effectively government school principals and teachers promote green economy principles within education, aligned with Oman Vision 2040.
According to the study, it was found that while school headmasters and teachers actively support green economy initiatives, their degree of engagement varies across different aspects of the green economy.
This recognition highlights Oman’s growing contributions to sustainable development and reflects ALECSO’s commitment to advancing scientific research and fostering innovative solutions across the Arab world.
