OOC takes part in ANOC meeting in Portugal

MUSCAT: Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) participated in the 27th General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) held in Portugal from October 29 to November 1. The meeting was attended by representatives of more than 200 National Olympic Committees in the Portuguese city of Cascais, as well as Dr Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, and representatives of the International Olympic Committee, international and continental federations, and organising committees for the upcoming Olympic sports tournaments. Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair, OOC Chairman, headed the OOC delegation, accompanied by Taha bin Suleiman al Kashri, OOC Secretary-General.

During the meeting, a number of deceased sports leaders who influenced the Olympic movement were honoured, and Dr Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, delivered an opening speech to representatives of the various National Olympic Committees. The meeting witnessed a review of several priority topics for the next stage, including the approval of the minutes of the 26th meeting of ANOC, which was held in South Korea in 2022. Several reports were also reviewed, represented by the report of the President of ANOC and the Secretary-General, who discussed the latest developments related to ANOC, the report of the ANOC Beach Games for 2023, and the report submitted by the Indonesian Olympic Committee.

The decisions of the Executive Office of the ANOC General Assembly were addressed, in addition to a visual report from the continental sports federations, the final report of the Organising Committee for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games, and the report of the Organising Committee for the XXXIV Olympic Games (Los Angeles 2028). The report of the World Anti-Doping Agency, the report of the International Arbitration Agency, the report of the ANOC TV Digital Acceleration Programme, the ANOC strategic plan, the report of the International Federation of World Games, along with reports from the organising committees of the upcoming Olympic Games represented by the Winter Olympic Games in Milan Cortina 2026 and the Fourth Youth Games in Dakar in 2026 were also reviewed.
