CAIRO: The Sultanate of Oman participated in a meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of representatives held at the Arab League’s headquarters on Thursday.

The Sultanate of Oman was represented at the meeting by Abdullah bin Nasser al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League.

Al Rahbi stressed the Sultanate of Oman’s condemnation and categorical rejection of the Israeli decisions and all that targets the humanitarian efforts and tasks entrusted to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The ambassador said, “The suffering of the Palestinians from the aggression clearly demonstrated the importance of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and its role in alleviating the suffering of Palestinian civilians”.

Al Rahbi pointed out that the Israeli plan is now moving to the 'stage of legitimising the condemnation of UNRWA through the Israeli Knesset,' while the Israeli extermination machine is mercilessly reaping the lives of innocent Palestinian children, women and the elderly. This position, on the other hand, he added, is a link in a long chain of Israeli violations of international law and international humanitarian law, and reflects an unacceptable disregard for the international community and the United Nations.

The meeting also discussed the joint Arab response to the dangerous illegal laws passed by the Knesset (Israeli parliament) that ban the UNRWA activities in the occupied Palestinian territories. — ONA
