MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT), represented by the National Cybersecurity Centre, in collaboration with the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Muscat, launched the ‘Hadatha Centre’ for the cybersecurity industry as part of the Regional Cybersecurity Week activities.

The launch took place under the auspices of Halima bint Rashid al Zariyah, Chairperson of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority.

The Hadatha Centre aims to enhance the outcomes of the National Cybersecurity Industry Programme by managing knowledge, ideas, and research, as well as designing cybersecurity products and services through modeling and testing simulations.

Additionally, the centre seeks to align with the Cybersecurity Industry Programme in the Sultanate of Oman and promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in cybersecurity and modern technologies. This aligns with the primary objectives of the Cybersecurity Industry Programme in Oman, and the centres are intended to establish a connection between government entities, the private sector, and academic institutions.

The event was attended by Dr Ali al Shidhani, Communications and Information Technology Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, the President of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, and several officials from relevant institutions. — ONA
