Muscat: The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has enacted a ban on the sale of children’s toys under the 'MINIVERSE' brand due to safety concerns.
According to CPA, resolution No. (770/2024) outlines that the toys contain a resin chemical that poses risks of skin sensitivity, eye irritation, or respiratory issues if inhaled, touched, or ingested.
In accordance with Article II of the resolution, violators may incur administrative fines up to RO1,000.
The CPA reiterated that repeat violations will see fines doubled, and if non-compliance persists, an additional fine of RO 50 per day may be applied, with a maximum cumulative penalty of RO 2,000.
These penalties reinforce the CPA’s mandate to protect consumers as specified under the Consumer Protection Law.
Following the decision, the CPA has initiated action across all departments and directorates, dispatching teams to ensure that MINIVERSE products are cleared from store shelves.
Inspection drives are in progress throughout the governorates to verify compliance with the ban and secure the swift removal of these toys from the market.
