The advanced leadership course for Scouts and Guides Unit leaders and their assistants has started at the Salalah Training Centre.

Organised by the Directorate-General of Education in Dhofar Governorate through the Department of Vocational Guidance and Student Guidance’s Scouts and Guides Section, the five-day programme includes 17 participants.

This course is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for leaders. It aims to strengthen participants' abilities in public relations, communication, planning, problem-solving and decision-making — equipping them with the tools necessary for leadership excellence.

Ali Barut inaugurated the course with an overview of its objectives and programme structure. Ibrahim al Harezi followed with a detailed presentation on the organisational framework of the scouting movement across Gulf, Arab and international levels. Salwa al Yafei introduced the participants to project preparation and personal project implementation.

Throughout the programme, trainees explored various topics essential to scouting leadership. Naif Adnaut explained integrated scouting and guidance programmes, covering its core concepts and requirements.

Sherifa al Yafei provided training on effective communication techniques and influencing skills. Outdoor leadership skills, including managing and organising trips in natural settings, were led by Masoud al Hambasi, who also discussed strategies for teaching, games and structured competitions.

Further practical training included sessions on flag-raising ceremonies, group meetings and planning outdoor activities, guided by leaders Ali Barut and Salwa al Yafei. This comprehensive programme emphasises both theoretical and practical applications, fostering a new generation of capable leaders in the Scouts and Guides community.
