Women's endowment represents a long-term investment in human development, as it contributes to empowering women to be more independent and self-reliant, benefiting their families and society as a whole, according to Rashida bint Sulaiman al Hasaniyah, a religious guide and representative of Women's Endowment.

Speaking at the Women’s Endowment Forum organised by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs at the lecture hall at Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque on Sunday, Rashida stressed that the endowment contributes to instilling the values of giving and solidarity across generations. This enhances the sustainability of development and ensures continuity of benefit to society over time.

The forum aimed to introduce women’s endowment for education and guidance, raise awareness of partnership in women’s endowment, contribute to the share of women’s endowment, and provide an appropriate environment for women to activate their religious roles.

The three-day event, organised by the Women's Education and Guidance Department at the Ministry under the slogan ‘Year of the Mosque’, coincides with celebrations of Omani Women’s Day and supports women in their educational and legal guidance journey. It emphasises the importance of endowment as a powerful and influential tool in building generations and raising the youth.

Highlighting the importance of endowment, Rashida said that women’s endowment represents an aspect of community solidarity that our true faith calls for. The endowment is a sustainable source of funding and support that enhances women’s capabilities, qualifies them to face the challenges of the era, and enables them to contribute to the development of their families and society.

“The importance of women’s endowment does not lie only in its role as a means of educational and advisory support, but its impact extends to future generations. Thanks to this endowment, generations of women are being built who are capable of achieving success and contributing to community development,” Al Hasani added.

The forum will continue on its second and third days with four dialogue sessions covering the role of legitimate educational endowment for women in carrying out its pioneering role, honourable historical models of legitimate educational endowment for women and its role in the renaissance of society in various countries, prospects for developing legitimate educational endowment for women to meet the needs of the modern era, and financing legitimate educational endowment for women, along with its challenges and solutions.

The opening was presided over by Shaikha Tamima bint Mohammed al Mahrouqiyah, Adviser to the President of the National Records and Archives Authority for Planning and Development, in the presence of women from various governmental and private bodies.
