MUSCAT: Oman celebrates Omani Youth Day by acknowledging the talents and impact of its younger generation, recognising their essential role in building the nation’s future.
With climate change posing a critical challenge, the youth are key stakeholders in driving sustainable solutions. By actively participating in environmental efforts, young Omanis are at the forefront of promoting clean energy, protecting natural resources, and adopting sustainable practices to create a greener, more resilient future.
In alignment with these goals, the Future Climate Leaders Competition, taking place from February 24–25, 2025 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC), Muscat, provides youth with the opportunity to spearhead climate change solutions across the key themes of Oman Climate Week, including climate mitigation, adaptation, finance, carbon markets, technologies, loss and damage and social inclusion.
As part of Oman Climate Week 2025 (February 21–28), this competition offers young climate innovators a unique platform to showcase their solutions globally and be recognised as future climate leaders.
Supported by Oman’s Environment Authority, the event will include conferences, masterclasses, exhibitions, and highlights like the Future Climate Leaders Awards, Women & Climate, Gala Dinner, alongside field trips and community events.
The pioneering Future Climate Leaders competition, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, is open to all youth currently enrolled in STEM undergraduate programs (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
The top ten finalists will have the unique opportunity to present their groundbreaking projects during Oman Climate Week 2025.
Students are to submit their entries by November 14, 2024. For registration and submission details, visit Future Leaders Registration.
As part of the event, the organisers are also promoting eco-friendly initiatives such as beach clean-ups, water sports activities, art competitions, and awareness campaigns highlighting Oman’s marine ecosystems, all aimed at fostering environmental stewardship.
