MANAH: The Sultanate of Oman on Saturday celebrated Omani Youth Day at the Oman Across Ages Museum, under the auspices of HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham bin Tarik al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth.

The event featured the announcement of the winners of the 2024 Youth Excellence Award, along with the inauguration of three new branches of the youth centres across various governorates, reinforcing efforts to empower youth and support their creativity.

The ceremony witnessed the announcement of the winners of the Youth Excellence Award for 2024, where several young people made outstanding contributions to society.

The results were as follows: In the Digital Economy field, Mustafa al Yahyaei won the Encouragement Award for the 'My School Programmes' project, while the private sector award went to the 'Bug Bounty' company for their 'Bug Bounty Platform' project.

In the Digital Media field, Abdulmalik al Balushi won for the 'Content Creation' project, while Amani al Rasbi won the Encouragement Award for the 'Taalemedia' project. In the youth initiatives category, Abdulaziz al Rashidi won the award for the 'Al Fayn Youth Magazine' project, and the Oman Film Society won the civil society category award for the 'Make Your Film' project, while the 'Pulse of Youth' channel affiliated with Ammar for Direct Digital Media won the youth institutions category award.



In the field of environment, Mira al Qaidi won for the 'Localisation of Biosensor Technology' project, and Rahma al Saifi for the 'Bee Forest' project, while Sharifa al Hinai won the Encouragement Award for the 'Development of Biodegradable Plastic' project.

In the youth initiatives category, Salwa al Maamari won the 'Using Banana Peel Waste as Door Coating' initiative, Aqlima al Hinai won the 'Treating Landfill Leachate' initiative, while Dr Shabib al Rashidi won the Encouragement Award for the 'Mitigating Global Warming Using Biochar' project.

In the field of work and entrepreneurship, Hajar al Sunaidi won for the 'Financial Awareness' project in the individuals category, while Fatima al Balushi won the private sector category award for the 'Omani Women's Academy' project.

In the civil society category, Suleiman al Sulaimani won for the 'Revival of the Waqf of Sur and Harat Al Aqar' project, while Hafeez al Shakiri won the youth institutions category award for the 'Mudad for Development' project.

As for youth initiatives, Mohammed al Busaidi won for the 'Green Library' project in the private sector category, and the 'Oman Volunteer Creators' team won for the 'Ehsan Volunteer Forum' project in the civil society category. Three youth initiatives also received appreciation awards: 'Chemical Club', 'Qudrat Initiative' and 'Nawat'.



The ceremony also included the inauguration of new branches of the Youth Centre in various governorates, as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth to expand the scope of services provided to youth across the country. These branches aim to support creativity and innovation among youth and enhance opportunities to develop their skills in stimulating environments.

The Youth Centre branch at Musandam Centre for Culture and Innovation in Musandam Governorate, Wilayat of Khasab, includes co-working halls, meeting rooms, multi-purpose laboratories and photography studios. This branch comes to provide an integrated environment that provides young people with the opportunity to create and innovate, and enhance the partnership between culture and the local economy.

The Youth Centre Branch at Sur Youth Cultural Centre in Al Sharqiyah South Governorate, Wilayat of Sur, includes a youth centre and a cultural library.

The branch provides co-working halls, multi-purpose laboratories, a theatre and photography studios, in addition to an incubator for small and medium enterprises and offices for the LNG company, reflecting the integration of efforts in serving youth and the local community.

The Youth Centre Branch in Harat Al Aqar in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, Wilayat of Nizwa, is distinguished by its design inspired by the urban identity and unique architectural heritage of Harat Al Aqar, to reflect the authenticity of the governorate and serve the local community. The branch will provide young people with suitable spaces to practice creative and developmental activities in line with the cultural and historical character of the governorate.

The Youth Centre announced a series of partnerships aimed at enhancing cooperation between public and private sector institutions to support youth and community programmes in the Sultanate of Oman.
