MUSCAT: Oman International Development and Investment Company SAOG (Ominvest) on Saturday signed an agreement with the Foreign Ministry (FM), to sponsor the 2nd edition of the Oman Golf Trophy 2024.

This prestigious tournament, hosted by the Sultanate of Oman, will take place in December at various renowned golf courses in Muscat, including the LA VIE Club in Madinat Al Irfan.

Launched by the Foreign Ministry in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and Oman Golf Association, the Oman Golf Trophy serves as a platform to showcase Oman’s captivating natural beauty, tourism potential and world-class golfing facilities.

The Muscat round marks the culmination of the tournament, which commenced in April with qualifying rounds held across Italy, Germany, Austria, South Africa, India and Japan. About 140 male and female golfers from these seven nations will compete in the final round.

Khalid bin Hashil al Muselhi, Under-Secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, said that the Oman Golf Trophy is a diplomatic sports initiative launched by the ministry as part of its efforts to highlight the enchanting nature of Oman, as well as its tourism and investment potential and its ability to support and host international golf events.

He highlighted that Ominvest’s sponsorship of the tournament reflects the Omani private sector’s commitment to supporting government efforts aimed at attracting investments and promoting Oman’s tourism and investment potential.

Abdulaziz bin Mohammed al Balushi, Group CEO of Ominvest, commented, 'Ominvest is proud to support this initiative that aligns with our commitment to attracting investment and promoting Oman as a premier destination. The Oman Golf Trophy provides an excellent opportunity to showcase Oman's diverse tourism assets and highlight its potential as a hub for both leisure and investment.'

Al Balushi further added, 'Our investment in LA VIE Club, a stunning 18-hole course with breathtaking views of the Gulf of Oman, reflects Ominvest's dedication to enhancing Oman's golfing landscape and attracting international players.'

The LA VIE Club, which will host one of the final rounds in Muscat, boasts a stunning view of the Sea of Oman and features 18 holes. It has been uniquely designed on 45 hectares of land, offering sea views with a magnificent mountainous backdrop. The course also includes natural valley terrain, spacious fairways and challenging shots over cliff edges, with five different playing options catering to a wide range of golf skills.
