Finale of cyber security competition held
MUSCAT: Dr Said al Rubaiei, Vice-Chancellor of University of Technology and Applied Sciences, presided over the finale of the Cybersecurity Competition “Cython2024”, organised by the Ministry of Education and University of Technology and Applied Sciences at the HCT Auditorium, where winners were honoured.

Among the school section, the first-place winners were “The Defcons” team, second came the “Cyber_Flood” team, and third were “ExploitNinjas” team. From the University section, the first-place winner was “The Default” team, second came “NeonFloyd” team, and the third place came “SQU-Injection” team.

Dr Ahmed al Maamari, Assistant Vice-Chancellor, delivered the University’s speech at the ceremony, and praised all the efforts done by the students through their sportsmanship, expressing his satisfaction with the students’ accomplishments. He said: “Our commitment in developing the Cybersecurity is rooted within our realisation for its significance in the new age of technology, the challenges of the Information Security require preparing a generation capable of facing such challenges with efficacy and solutions”.

Sulaiman al Kindi, Adviser to the Minister of Education for Information Technology, delivered the ministry’s speech in which he talked about the importance of Cybersecurity as the foundation of protecting the infrastructure network like the financial, health and educational sectors. He said: “this competition is an opportunity for students to familiarise themselves in the Cybersecurity world and gain experiences in Penetration Testing, Coding, Digital Crime Investigation.'
