MUSCAT: The third Oman Grand Prix Season 3 badminton tournament, the annual championship that badminton players eagerly await, will begin on November 8 at the AMM Sports Arena in Ghala, according to the organisers. The tournament, which will continue until November 16, will see individuals and teams of elite category players from different countries in the Middle East and beyond taking part in exclusive Omani categories, kids’ and adults’ categories, vying for the top positions in the respective categories.

“This most sought-after tournament promises to showcase some of the best talent in badminton, providing thrilling matches and unforgettable moments. This year, we aim to further strengthen our community impact by encouraging local participation and offering special programmes to inspire the next generation of badminton enthusiasts. Participants and spectators can expect an elevated level of competition, featuring some of the world's top players to help promote the sport in our region,” Muhammad Haroos, key organiser of the event, told Oman Observer.

The Oman Grand Prix badminton tournament began in 2022 with the vision of establishing Oman as a prominent destination for international badminton. The annual tournament aims to provide a platform for talented players from around the world while encouraging local athletes and promoting badminton in the country. By hosting high-quality competitions, the tournament has contributed significantly to the growth of the sport, inspiring young players and fostering a sense of community. It also brings fans together, creating an atmosphere of excitement and celebration of athletic excellence, promising exciting matches, enhanced facilities, and an even more engaging experience for everyone involved.

While Season 1 in 2022 set the foundation with thrilling matches that saw talented players display their skills, Season 2 raised the bar with even more intense competition and memorable performances. The past two seasons featured incredible athletes, unforgettable rallies, and fierce rivalries, capturing the attention of fans both locally and internationally.

“We are thrilled to announce that we are now gearing up for Season 3, set to bring even more thrilling matches, fierce competition, and an incredible atmosphere to Oman. Badminton aficionados can look forward to being part of another chapter of excellent badminton action that brings world-class badminton action to the Sultanate of Oman,” other organisers — Rengarajan, Rahul, Nishar Mohamed, and Akbar—who were present at the press briefing, said.
