Agreements worth RO186 million signed for Sultan Haitham City

Muscat: The Urban October conference launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MHUP) on Monday saw the signing of several agreements for the Sultan Haitham City in the presence of His Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Asaad al Said, Chairman of the Governors of the Central Bank of Oman.
More than 80 agreements worth RO186 million were signed at the conference, which will also present investment opportunities in Sultan Haitham City, revealed Dr. Mohammed bin Ali al Mutawa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for Urban Planning, to the Oman Observer.
He also said that the Greater Muscat Masterplan is awaiting final approval, following which it will enter the implementation stages.
As part of Urban October, the Basmat competition will be launched at Sultan Haitham City, aligning with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s vision of involving youth and encouraging their innovative and creative contributions to shaping Oman’s future.
The competition aims to engage youth in creating diverse imprints in architecture, arts, technology, environment, culture, and society in Sultan Haitham City, which is envisioned as a city for all and a legacy for the future.
Six cooperation agreements worth RO70 million were signed for the first phase of Sultan Haitham City, which included the package agreement of RO82.7 million to establish electricity, water, sewage, irrigation, broadband, communications, and district cooling networks, which will be implemented within 24 months by Towell Infrastructure Company.
An agreement was signed to establish main roads, tunnels, and ferries with an investment value of RO63.2 riyals to be implemented within 30 months by Al-Sarooj Construction Company.
An agreement was also signed to establish three transformer power stations (11/33KV ) within an area of 7,500 sqm square meters in neighborhoods (6, 8, 9) with an investment of RO6 million to be implemented within 15 months.
Other agreements include the RO6 million project to develop integrated service stations over a 6,2 00 sqm area within the Al-Birr Wal Ihsan project, a plot of 8,000 sqm to the Security and Safety Services Corporation residential neighborhood 17, and one to build the technical system for smart cities.
The Ministry launched the 'Step towards owning your home' initiative in several integrated residential neighborhood projects (unveiled on Monday), offering opportunities for those wishing to buy and own within three days in the presence of developers and financing agencies in one place.
