SALALAH: The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs (MoARA), organised an event titled 'Oman Bridges: Identity and Civilisation.'

During the five-day event, being held at Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, the ministry is represented by the 'Department of Introduction to Islam and Cultural Exchange' based at the Iftaa Office.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar. The event will run until October 10.

Dr Shaikh Kahlan bin Nabhan al Kharousi, Assistant Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman, in his speech elaborated on components that shape the Omani identity: the religion, the language and the distinctive national characteristics of the Omani people. He explained how the Omani identity helped react positively to surrounding factors throughout the ages.

It is worth noting that the event is accompanied by an exhibition featuring many themes, including 'Rights in Omani Society', the 'Omani Values ​​in Urban Jurisprudence', the 'Values ​​and ethics that contributed to Omani merchants’ spreading Islam' and 'Omanis as Messengers of Peace.'
