Red Warriors eye redemption against Kuwait

MUSCAT, OCT 6

The national football team are looking for a strong bounce back as they will host Kuwait on Thursday in a key match in the third round of the final qualifiers for the 2026 Fifa World Cup. The forthcoming game against Kuwait will decide the national team’s chances further in this qualifiers campaign. Oman, under the domestic guidance of the experienced coach Rasheed Jaber, are working very hard in the previous training sessions to raise the players’ readiness ahead of the upcoming clash. Coach Rasheed and his assisting coaching team are working with the team to enhance weak areas and rebuild the team’s trust after the first two losses against Iraq in Basra and South Korea in Muscat Governorate.

The Kuwait game is classified as a very essential match as it will be hosted in Muscat and in the presence of the home fans. Secondly, this game will be followed a few days later by another crucial encounter against Jordan in Amman City. A positive result against Kuwait will encourage the players to deliver their utmost performance at Amman International Stadium. On the other side, Kuwait ended their first two games against Jordan and Iraq with draw results, and they will enter their game against Oman with the same target.

The Oman team, who are chasing a historic appearance at the 2026 Fifa World Cup, resumed their daily training sessions at Seeb Stadium ahead of the Kuwait and Jordan matches. The coaching staff is busy raising the team’s harmony level and increasing the technical readiness of the players in all three lines.

Bahrain’s Al Khaldiya SC player, Salah al Yahyaei, joined in the training sessions of the Red Warriors last week. The inclusion of Salah boosted the squad as he is a key player and will shine on the pitch alongside the other new faces who returned to the squad.

Kuwait team will arrive in Muscat on Tuesday, and they will train twice at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. The team is currently busy in a camp in Dubai for a few days ahead of the upcoming games against Oman and Palestine.

On the other hand, the Oman Football Association (OFA) through the Awn volunteering team concluded a workshop on how to deal with football fans. As many as 70 volunteers took part in the workshop. The participants learned different topics relevant to sports volunteering and how to manage large sporting events that normally record a huge presence of audience. Several sessions and presentations were delivered to the volunteers who attended the sessions on Thursday on how to manage during match day.
