Shura chairman discusses relations with Russian officials

Khalid al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura, met with Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation
MOSCOW: Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura, met with Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, in the capital Moscow, on Wednesday.
The two sides reviewed ways to foster bilateral cooperation in the legislative fields and through more coordination between the two councils in the coming period.
Within the framework of his official visit to the Russian Federation, chairman of Majlis Ash’shura also met with Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation at the headquarters of the Russian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.
During the meeting, they discussed level of Omani-Russian political relations and ways of bolstering multi-track relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation in a way that meets the long-term interests of the two countries and ensures security and stability in the Middle East region.
The chairman of Majlis Ash’shura also met with Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Russian Federation Council. They discussed ways of enhancing bilateral relations, exchanging legislative and parliamentary expertise as well as coordinating attitudes and policies in regional and international parliamentary forums.
The chairman of Majlis Ash’shura also met with His Eminence Shaikh Rawi Ainuddin, Chairman of the Muftis Council of the Russian Federation. He laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the wall of the Kremlin Palace in the Alexandrovsky Gardens in the Red Square and visited the Museum of the Great Patriotic War.
