A HEART is needed to nurture people and culture

We all know that the heart of the human being is the number one operator for the body to function and work. Emmm... I am not here to give you a science or a biology lecture, but since I am talking about the ‘heart’, employers, leaders, and executives should have a HEART to nurture people and culture at work! People-first should be the number one philosophy for any organization that wants to have a sustainable business and workforce.

As usual, being a person who loves acronyms, ‘HEART’ here does not refer to the main organ inside our body but refers to being:

Humble: As a leader, being humble is not about low self-esteem; it is about giving autonomy and ownership to others. This is the idea of 'servant leadership.' I wish many of our leaders had the humility and courage to accept learning and benefiting from their co-workers and subordinates!

Empathetic: Empathy builds trust and loyalty. Leaders should not only listen to their employees, but they should also understand, comprehend, and reflect on the situations of their employees to try solving their problems.

Adaptable: As a leader, you need to be adaptable and flexible to your team, hence guiding them to develop critical thinking skills against different challenges. Acknowledge your team diversification for better communication.

Remarkable: To be a remarkable leader, you need to lead by example, hence fostering truly engaged employees. Continuously mentoring and coaching your team, as well as treating them with respect, are essential traits for a remarkable leader.

Transparent: Leaders should have an open-door philosophy. Enhance constructive feedback; communicate clearly and honestly to gain your team's trust and loyalty.

My dear reader, as you can see from the above, HEART is very essential for leaders and executives to nurture their people and culture. Companies should believe in their people as the number one asset for their business operation.

Think about your heart and lead people in the right manner.
