Oman coach focuses on fitness and tactics

Oman football team head coach, Rasheed Jaber, said the newly unveiled coaching staff of the national team comprised his former colleagues, who are experienced. This came during the opening training session of the Red Warriors at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex last week.
“I was very keen to select the proper names for the coaching staff. Therefore, there were some names on the list that I worked with a couple of years ago. I trust my coaching staff will help me in developing the players and the team in general to reach the desired goals,” he said.
“I respect Abdulaziz al Maqbali’s decision on ending his international football career as a player. We were looking forward to him continuing, as he can still deliver a lot on the field, but ultimately, we respect his decision,” Jaber said.
After the training, Oman will play against Kuwait on October 10 at 8:00 pm (Oman time) at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.
The technical practice session began with some physical training under the supervision of Mohammed Waseem. The players were then divided into groups to execute mental and control training. The coaching staff later focused on technical and tactical training by allocating players to their proper positions to evaluate their readiness and improve harmony among them.
The team had a gym training session on Sunday, while in the evening, the players went into their daily training.
Last week, Jaber unveiled the Red Warriors’ official list for the forthcoming clashes against Kuwait and Jordan on October 10 and 15, respectively, in the AFC Asian Qualifiers - Road to 26. The unveiled squad featured a mixture of new names, including Ahmed al Riyami (Al Khabourah), Mulham al Sunaidy (Al Nasr), Mohammed Ramadhan (Seeb) and Yazeed al Mashani (Al Nasr).

After the clash with Kuwait, the team will travel to Amman for an away match against Jordan at Amman International Stadium. The Red Warriors will play two more matches in November, hosting Palestine on November 14 and Iraq on November 19 at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.
The Asian qualifiers will then pause for four months, with the Red Warriors resuming their games against South Korea in Seoul on March 20. The team will then travel to Kuwait for a tight clash on March 25 in Kuwait City. The concluding two matches will be on June 5 and 10, with the national team facing Jordan in Muscat and Palestine in Doha, respectively.
