MUSCAT: As part of the Socca Oman convoy to promote Socca World Cup 2024, which is being hosted by the Sultanate of Oman for the first time in the Middle East and Asia during November and December this year, a partnership agreement was signed between the Oman Automobile Association and Sports Makers Company.

This will enable to organise the Oman Corporate League OCL 2024 and the events accompanying the Socca convoy during the period from October 20-30, 2024 at the headquarters of the Oman Automobile Association.

Sulaiman bin Abdullah al Rawahi, Director General, signed on behalf of the Oman Automobile Association, and Waleed bin Juma al Obaidani, CEO of Sports Makers, signed on behalf of Sport Makers, in the presence of several invitees from both parties and various media.

Sulaiman bin Abdullah al Rawahi, Director General of the Oman Automobile Association, said: 'We are delighted to sign a partnership agreement with Sports Makers to host the Oman OCL 2024 Corporate League and the events accompanying the Socca convoy after the success achieved in the previous stations in Nizwa and Salalah. The Oman Automobile Association has been and continues to support all youth efforts that would contribute to enriching the sports movement and contribute to attracting international sporting events to the Sultanate of Oman. At the Oman Automobile Association, we seek to host distinguished sporting events of all kinds, given the infrastructure owned by the association, which contributes to attracting various categories of athletes and various segments of society.'

Waleed al Obaidani, President of the Socca Middle East Federation and CEO of Sports Makers, said: “Oman Corporate League OCL 2024 and its accompanying events are the third stop of the Socca Convoy after the success of the first and second stations in Nizwa and Salalah, which witnessed a crowd of more than one hundred and fifty thousand visitors to the various activities of the convoy and millions of views on social media.

The first Socca Gulf Cup, held in Dhofar and was crowned by our national team, witnessed a distinguished public follow-up from the participating Gulf countries. The tournament matches were broadcasted on Oman Sport TV, Dubai Sport TV, Sharjah Sport TV and Al Iraqiya Sports TV, in addition to the Socca International Federation's live broadcast channels.'

Al Obaidani added: 'The third stop in Muscat Governorate will witness the organisation of Oman Corporate League OCL 2024, which is the most prominent annual sporting event that brings together employees of companies operating in the Sultanate of Oman in various sectors in an exciting football competition. In addition to organizing the Community League and the finals of the Socca Oman Open Team League.'

A roadmap has been developed to reach the Socca World Cup at the end of 2024, starting with the Omani participation in the Socca America Copa in Mexico and the Socca Europe League in Moldova, through which the Omani team was able to reach the semi-finals and achieve fourth place in the European League, followed by the Nizwa State station to the Socca Gulf League in Salalah, which was crowned by the Omani team.

The programme designed to promote the Socca World Cup 2024 continues with the stations of the Socca Convoy leading up to the World Cup scheduled for the period from November 29 to December 7.

The Socca World Cup is the world's most prominent and largest annual event in the sport of six-a-side football. The tournament targets amateur footballers and annually sees the participation of more than 44 national teams from different continents of the world.

The tournament is receiving wide media attention worldwide in terms of the number of TV channels, famous sports personalities participating in its events and the accompanying crowd momentum. What distinguishes the Socca World Cup is that it is held in the city centers through the construction of a temporary pop-up stadium specifically for the event in partnership with the host country's sports and tourism government institutions.

The past four editions of the tournament were organised in Portugal, Greece and Hungary, and the last edition was held in the Federal Republic of Germany in the city of Essen in June 2023, and the tournament witnessed Omani participation in all previous editions.

SOCCA International Federation was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in the UK and has more than 85 member countries. It aims to spread and develop the sport of mini-five, 16th and 7-ball for the amateur and corporate sectors and to organise international and continental competitions at a high level of organisation, marketing, and television production.
