MUSCAT: Muscat Family Physicians Group, in association with Global Treatment Services and Amrita Hospital in Kochi, India, recently held a medical education programme in Muscat.
The programme featured eminent Haematologists Dr Neeraj Sidharthan and Dr Monisha Harimadhavan as speakers.
During their presentations, the speakers highlighted groundbreaking advancements in the treatment of blood cancers, specifically CAR T Cell therapy. Amrita Hospital has been a leader in pioneering this treatment in India, offering it at a fraction of the typical expenses associated with such therapies in the western world.
Dr Khalid al Hashmi, Senior Consultant and Head of Hemato-Oncology at MOD Hospital, emphasised the importance of advancements in Blood Cancer treatment and the commitment to making cutting-edge therapies accessible to a broader population. He also highlighted the benefits of having such facilities in India, Oman's neighboring country.
The meeting was attended by approximately 50 eminent Medical Practitioners, including Hemato- oncologists, Oncologists, Pediatricians, Internists, and Family Physicians. An interactive session followed the presentations.
