Shura Office reviews ministerial responses

 
Muscat: The Office of Majlis Ash’shura held its 14th regular meeting of the first annual session of the tenth term (2023-2027), under the chairmanship of Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman, on Monday.

The office discussed a number of ministerial responses including the Council of Ministers’ response to a request for briefing regarding economic diplomacy and its impact on boosting the economy and economic diversification.

Also reviewed were a number of government responses to follow-up tools submitted by the council members. These include the response of the minister of transport, communications and information technology to a request for briefing submitted regarding the trainees of the Oman Aviation Academy and the delay in completing the training of batches of trainees at the academy.

During its meeting, the Office of Majlis Ash’shura reviewed the response of the minister of education to a parliamentary question regarding the executive regulations of the School Education Law and the response of the Chairman of Oman Investment Authority (OIA) to the request for briefing regarding Oman Future Fund and the response of the Executive President of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) to the request for a briefing regarding the fees levied by the CBO on shop owners regarding the electronic payment service.

During the meeting, the Council also reviewed the report of the Public Services and Utilities Committee on its recent hosting of the Oman Holding Company for Environmental Services. It also approved a number of follow-up tools submitted by the council members.

The meeting reviewed a request for a briefing directed to the minister of commerce, industry and investment promotion regarding the Free Trade Agreement between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India. The request included informing the Council of the effects of the Free Trade Agreement with the Republic of India.
