Foreign minister meets officials on sidelines of UNGA

New York: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, met with Dr Rashad al Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of the Republic of Yemen on the sidelines of his participation in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York, on Sunday.
They discussed the historical and friendly relations binding the two brotherly countries, stressing support for all efforts aimed to achieve security and stability in Yemen and expressing their hope for a consensual political solution that preserves independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Yemen.
The foreign minister also met with Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. They reviewed bilateral relations stressing the need to follow up on the activation of the decisions taken by the Omani-Algerian Joint Committee and to continue cooperation in various fields for more mutual benefits.
The two ministers reviewed a number of regional and international issues of common concern stressing the importance of continued coordination and consultation in the field of international forums to support Arab and Islamic issues, reaffirming support for the role of the United Nations towards achieving international peace and security.
Sayyid Badr also met with Espen Barth Eide, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway. He discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries particularly in the fields of renewable energy, environmental protection, sustainable development, food and water security, stressing the importance of continuing close coordination in these areas within the framework of the growing bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Norway.
The two sides agreed on the need to support means of dialogue and international multilateral cooperation to find peaceful solutions to regional and global conflicts and to emphasize the principles and values of the United Nations Charter to achieve justice, peace and prosperity for all.
The Foreign Minister met with Dr Mohamed Osman Maliki, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Education of the Republic of Singapore.
During the meeting, the two ministers stressed their mutual keenness to follow up on the results of the historic visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik al Said to the Republic of Singapore last December. They agreed to continue their strategic dialogue between the two countries and cooperation in various fields including digital economy, innovation, energy, education, and advanced technology.
The two ministers also stressed the importance of promoting the values of dialogue, justice and respect in resolving differences and disputes through peaceful means and to support the essential role of diplomacy in bringing viewpoints closer and achieving understanding.
During his meeting with Batsetseg Batmunkh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Mongolia, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, discussed a number of opportunities for bilateral cooperation to foster trade exchange between the two countries and promote investment, and tourism opportunities.
