Musandam Rest House project to boost tourism

KHASAB: Musandam Governorate launched the Musandam rest house project in collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and the Oman College of Tourism, on Sunday.
The projects aims to encourage the people of the governorate to invest in the establishing and developing of tourist rest houses in coastal and mountain villages.
The project was launched during a workshop organized by Oman College of Tourism in cooperation with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and Musandam branch of OCCI, under the auspices of Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Musandam Governor.
The workshop saw the presentation of a number of working papers on tourist rest houses in the Sultanate of Oman and the importance of developing them to develop tourism.
Dr Hamad bin Mohammed al Mahrazi, Dean of Oman College of Tourism, in his speech underscored the importance of tourist rest houses in developing the tourism sector. Another working paper was presented by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism on the laws and legislation governing tourist rest houses. The Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) presented a working paper that dealt with the importance of tourist rest houses in boosting sustainable tourism and preserving natural resources.
Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, said that the Musandam Rest House project aims to achieve a number of objectives including meeting the growing demand for tourist accommodation in the governorate and promoting local and international tourism by providing diverse accommodation options that meet tourists aspirations and contributes to enhancing Musandam’s position as a major tourist destination.
He stressed the strategic role the project is expected to play in achieving the governorate’s vision to develop the tourism sector in a way that boosts local economy.
