The Qitaf Musandam is all set to be held from November until April, as announced by the Governor of Musandam Governorate at an event held at W Hotel Muscat.
Empowering communities for sustainable tourism development is one of the major objectives of the season, which is now in its third edition.
Speaking to the Observer, Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Governor of Musandam, said, “Qitaf Musandam is an event that gathers all institutions and companies together to support the Musandam Winter Season. The Musandam Winter Season elevates the tourism sector, bringing in new businesses and events to the governorate during the winter. This year, the event will feature activities in all wilayats of the governorate.”
“Madha will be an anchor wilayat this season, along with Dibba. Two big events will be held in these two places, and I hope a new culture of businesses will be developed in the wilayats. In Dibba, we will focus on marine activities, and in Madha, we will concentrate on agricultural activities,” he added.
He mentioned that Khasab will host activities that have already proven to be popular. Through these events, small and medium-sized enterprises have been encouraged to take advantage of available opportunities.
In a landmark moment, the Governor of Musandam signed a series of agreements with multiple organisations and companies, officially kick-starting the preparation for this year’s festival. These partnerships aim to bolster the governorate’s visibility on both a national and global scale, positioning Musandam as a premier tourist destination.
The Governor emphasised the importance of marketing and promotional campaigns to showcase Musandam’s unique offerings. To ensure the success of the festival and amplify Musandam’s presence on the global stage, a variety of sponsorship options have been made available for companies interested in supporting the event. These sponsorships are designed to offer businesses a high return on investment (RoI) while aligning their brands with Musandam’s growing appeal.
Musandam’s officials are confident that with the right partnerships, the festival can become a key driver of economic growth in the governorate. The participation of both national and international companies is seen as critical in helping Musandam reach its full tourism potential, while also providing valuable support to the local community and SMEs.
With growing international interest in Oman as a travel destination, Qitaf Musandam has the potential to become one of the most significant tourism events in the region. The festival’s global reach is expected to be even stronger this year, with media coverage and promotional campaigns planned to showcase Musandam’s beauty and attractions to a worldwide audience.
Musandam’s stunning geography offers endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation. Its jagged fjords and towering mountains provide a thrilling backdrop for activities such as hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and kayaking. Visitors can also explore the governorate’s rich marine life through snorkelling and scuba diving in the crystal-clear waters of the Sea of Oman.
