CAA conducts a workshop for 24 weather enthusiasts

Muscat: A training workshop on 'Basics of Meteorology' was launched on Wednesday with the participation of 24 amateur enthusiasts who are active in weather groups.
The workshop was organized by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) under the umbrella of the 'Friends of Oman Meteorology Initiative' to enhance knowledge and awareness of the basics of meteorology and weather analysis techniques.
During the workshop, the weather monitoring system in the Sultanate of Oman was reviewed, the method of encoding and decoding the outputs of the monitoring system, training on monitoring readings for the meteorological monitoring station, the method of analyzing surface weather maps and upper atmosphere layers, and finally weather forecasting operations and the early warning system for tsunamis.
The participants also carried out practical applications in analyzing weather maps, using the early warning system, and local and global numerical models, in addition to training participants on practical applications such as launching a weather balloon and simulating different weather conditions.
