September 12 Muscat, (ONA) – A workshop on the 'Political Framework for Registering Carbon Offset Projects and Issuing Carbon Reduction Certificates,' organized by the Environment Authority in Muscat yesterday, reviewed the final draft of the general political framework for registering and issuing carbon reduction certificates in accordance with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
The workshop aimed to establish the governance framework, principles, and responsibilities for the approval, licensing, quantification, and auditing of carbon reductions, which will be traded both locally and internationally. The framework outlines the criteria for selecting priority projects for issuing internationally transferable carbon reduction certificates.
It is worth noting that the framework has been reviewed internationally by over 200 global institutions and organizations in the field and has been published in two scientific journals specializing in carbon.
