Dhofar Municipality intensifies food safety inspections

Muscat: The Dhofar Municipality in Salalah has rolled out inspection campaigns across various food-related businesses to safeguard public health and ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations.

The recent inspection campaigns have led to the closure of six bakeries and the issuance of ten violations due to health breaches. Additionally, three shawarma cafes were shut down, with eight violations handed out for failing to meet standards.

Juice packaging factories were also inspected, resulting in the suspension of a production line due to breaching health standards. Furthermore, two violations were recorded at hotel restaurants for non-compliance with health regulations.

In an online statement, the municipality said inspections are part of a daily initiative conducted both in the morning and evening, to maintain consistent oversight of food safety practices. It confirmed that businesses will not resume operations until all identified violations are rectified, and compliance with health regulations is ensured.

The municipality also reiterated its commitment to continuous monitoring, and responding to complaints around the clock to ensure that all establishments adhere to the required health standards.
