Muscat: The Majlis Ash’shura Public Services and Utilities Committee on Wednesday hosted Engineer Ahmed bin Hamad al Subhi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nama Group and the group’s executive chairmen, on Wednesday.

The meeting discussed a number of topics including the management and regulation of the electricity sector, current electricity tariffs, services provided at the service halls and delays in electricity service delivery in some residential schemes. The meetings come within the framework of the committee’s keenness to improve and develop the services provided by the company to citizens and residents in the Sultanate of Oman.



The CEO of Nama Electricity Distribution Company presented a visual display during which he clarified on the services provided by the company, the consumption patterns, collection mechanism, billing and payment systems applied by the company.

The CEO of Nama Electricity Supply Company also presented a visual display that explained the company’s roles, mechanism for submitting an application for electricity connection to homes and urban areas, the requisite procedures and the challenges facing the connection process.



The committee members inquired about several topic including higher electricity bills and calculation mechanism, power outages and reconnections, the company’s plans to replace old wooden poles with new ones made of materials compatible with the climate, replacing ground connection paths with new ones befitting urban development and the importance of replacing manual metres with smart meters.
