MUSCAT: The Ministry of Education has signed 71 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with various companies and institutions to support the upcoming Oman Science Festival, scheduled from November 4 to 11.

The signing ceremony was overseen by Dr Madiha al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, and attended by key officials, including Professor Abdullah Ambusaidi, Under-Secretary of Education, and Majid al Bahri, Under-Secretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, along with CEOs from contributing organisations.

This year marks the fourth edition of the Oman Science Festival, which aims to make science accessible and engaging for students and the general public. The event will promote interactive learning that stimulates creative thinking, while keeping pace with global trends in science, technology, and future advancements.

The festival’s objectives align with 'Oman Vision 2040' and the National Innovation Strategy, striving to position Oman as a leader in innovation by 2040.

The festival is scheduled to take place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, the festival will span 12,000 square metres and feature over 2,500 participants from 120 government and private entities. More than 500 activities will be hosted, offering a wide range of learning experiences for attendees.

During the signing event, Prof Ambusaidi emphasised the significance of collaboration between the public and private sectors, noting that past successes were driven by two key factors: The strong support from the private sector and the dedicated efforts of Omani youth, who meticulously planned and executed the event.

The MoUs were signed with prominent companies including OQ, Petroleum Development Oman, Oman Energy Association (OPAL), Oman LNG, Duqm Refinery, Occidental Oman, Al Yusr Foundation, and Omantel. Additionally, Majid al Bahri signed agreements with Shell Oman, Financial Services Regulatory Authority, Be’ah, Vodafone, Mazoon Dairy, Safa Foods, Ansar Technology, Al Waha Water, and Atyab Company.

The festival will target a wide range of participants, including students, educators, parents, higher education institutions, researchers, and industry professionals. Its aim is to foster human capital, boost global competitiveness, stimulate the economy, and enhance Oman’s standing in innovation and creativity on the global stage.
